It does a full-text index. You have to have a VERY focused page with a
good abstract of the contents as the first paragraph to get a decent description
out of them.

their indexing robot id not known for it's intellect. If the javascript is the
prominent feature (especially if it's first on the page), Excite will grab it.
If they would use meta description tags, you'd be better off.
BTW - it's my least favorite search site for trying to find things, because
of the lousy descriptions it concocts.
