Robots/Spiders and Frame sites

Hi
Our site is heavily frames based. I've been told that we need to tell
robots to avoid the pages that have the framesets or the robots just
stop dead in their tracks. Is this true? do i need to exclude all the
"default.htm" pages thave have the and tags if
i want to get listed?
