They're all acting like they're dead lately.

Infoseek used to index pages almost immediately. But that lead to a lot
of positioning experimentation. You could twiddle with your submission,
(and that of competitors too) to your heart's desire.

Even Alta Vista seems slower than it used to be. At least IT still
works.
