>LOL, where are you from anyway? Chincoteague? LOL, everyone knows WHY you all look alike. Frankly, I appreciate the trashing (No, I'm not sadistic). Any kind of imput helps. Do you have any suggestions for a new web host? I don't know when you viewed the site, but I went back in last night and crunched all the jpegs, to shorten download time. I also temporarily added that site award, (I plan to move it later). I read in selfpromotion.com that Yahoo and other SE are big on awards and link backs. Any thoughts? That particular one is for a fishing show and they will feature your site on their show if you have their award at the top of your homepage. As far as their link back, we will be the only charterboat listed for the states of Maryland and Delaware. Since that page gets 1000+ hits a day, I thought maybe I should go for it.
>As for the crabs, you can spend the big bucks and buy them, but we prefer to go out back and just scoop them up in a net. While you'll be dining on ham and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day, we traditonally eat big blue crabs. Ahhhhhhhhh! Life is good!
>P.S. Can you believe, they are getting $8.00 a lb for Rock in the supermarkets!
You can just stop the inbred jokes right there ma'am.
Nope, I was a Potomac boy, running the whitewater. But I hung
with watermen several years. I quit trapping crab when I
figured out that I could buy busters from the right crabbers.
I quit picking them when I figured out I was slower than
the pros. (I'm still fast enough to get free beer in Australia,
though. The Chinese restaurant owner watched me work, plunked
a beer in front of me, pulled up a chair, and said,
"So ... you like clabs?") And I swore off Old Bay after
talking to a gal who worked in the packing plant.
There are hundreds or thousands of incompetent web hosts.
The short list of good ones:
They're not really aimed at newbies. But, if you want to
get business off the web, you're going to face the learning
curve one way or another. A good host is less painful
financially. And in the end less painful spiritually.
Awards are influential with visitors. Linkbacks are
influential with many SEs.
Just know who you're aiming at, and think it out.
Nope. Lose the background. Or at least get it off to the
side. The visitors want to know what you'll do for them.
Give 'em words, quickly, legibly. Look at the emotions
a visitor feels when seeing your site for the first time.
That's more important than most tech tricks.
1000+ visitors a day? Yep. But how much traffic do you
get from them? Watch your logs.
And eat blue crabs. Life is good.
