Search engines are those that will probably get you the most hits
for your website. Getting listed on yahoo almost guarantees you
hundreds of visitors everyday.Same goes for
Looksmart(looksmart.com) or ODP(www.dmoz.com)

I must warn you however, getting listed on these engines, and
submitting your site correctly the first time is extremely
important.

My best advice to you is the "paid engine" submission. I would
say you should get listed in Inktomi, the engine that powers much
of the search engine power on the web. They chare $40 for
submitting your first engine and also update your site every 48
hours. I highly recommend it. You can get submitted at
ink.ineedhits.com It will get you listed in msn, hotbot and aol
and iwon.com all at once. And these are major engines.

But once you do that you MUST optimize your site. Sorry for
shouting but this is really important. If you do not optimize
your site it is quite useless spending $40. You really need to
optimize your sites. It is extremely important. Optimizing your
site means that you should make changes to different areas of
your site so that the search engine "thinks" that your site
should be listed above the other sites that it has found.

So you need to know the site ranking rules of every engine that
you want your site listed on. Or in other words if you use the
inktomi option your site will appear on msn, hotbot, aol an
iwon.com so you need to know the ranking rules for these engines.

THe best way to go about this is the get webposition gold. This
is a great software. I use it everyday to optimize my site and it
has given me great results. I highly recommend it. You can order
a copy here. http://www.webposition.com/d2.pl?r=M6H-

Good luck to you
