I have been VERY happy with Webtricity from Micrografx(about $150).

The main program is Picture Publisher which will do almost everything Photoshop will do after you add about $600 of plugins to Photoshop. The Text wizards and effects wizards are great, thumbnail preview, compression preview. When you get more skilled, the tools are all there to let you do almost any effect you can imagine. Those puffy looking letters and shapes (Bevel Factory - looks 3D) are a cinch with this program . It incorporates the easiest animated gif creation manager I have ever seen (full frame by frame control).

The new drawing program included in the package is fairly good and VERY easy. Then there is 3D graphics called Simply 3D which is probably the easiest one on the market. Toss in about 35,000 of clip art and not a bad deal at about $100-$150 for the package. Worth 5 times as much.

I wrote a review for the earlier book still sold on Amazon.
