John, it's not all search engine searchers.
1. have you created a page of links to complimentary pages, ie,
veterinarian pages, natural health for animals, pet training, places
that people who are interested in dogs might browse, but that don't
compete with your products?
try creating those links, then write to the other page and tell them
you have linked to them and ask for a reciprocal link.
If you have worthwhile content on your page, many will link to you.
2. at least half of my business comes from several related mailing lists
I participate in. I've built a reputation for knowing my stuff, for
having good quality oils. People on these lists have come to trust
me, they know I love what I sell and am always searching for the best,
so they trust me for quality. That takes time...you can't just
arrive on a list and paste your ad, but over time it brings buyers.
According to the Web Position stats, the changes I've made in my pages,
following Max's advice aren't working...but my number of visitors has
gone up, and I'm getting as much business as I can handle without having
to hire a part time assistant to fill the orders. not BAD, for a rank
amateur at all this stuff.
